STATEHOUSE (April 1, 2025) — A resolution sponsored by State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) to honor fallen French Lick Police Chief Vern Ervin passed unanimously out of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Transportation Tuesday, April 1.
Ervin served with the French Lick Police Department for 16 years and had previously served with the Orange County Sheriff's Office for one year. Elvin died in the line of duty on September 10, 1972 at the French Lick Police Station while attempting to quell a domestic dispute.
House Concurrent Resolution 8 would rename a portion of 3 State Road 56 near French Lick, Indiana, the "Chief Vern Ervin Memorial Mile."
