Goode: Medicaid transparency bill passes Senate
STATEHOUSE (April 8, 2025) — A bill sponsored by State Sen. Greg Goode (R-Terre Haute) that would increase transparency in the state's Medicaid program and facilitate communication between attendant care stakeholders passed the Senate by a vote of 47-1 today with bipartisan support.
House Bill 1689 would require the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration to produce a report on home and community-based waiver services to recipients with medically complex conditions with the goal of increasing transparency with the agency.
"HB 1689 would help some of our most vulnerable Hoosiers navigate this time of transition in Indiana's Medicaid program," Goode said. "I am thankful for my colleagues in the General Assembly who supported this legislation and look forward to continuing to find ways to help our neighbors who need assistance."
The bill would also ensure all individuals receiving services through the Bureau of Disabilities Services have access to ombudsman support, which aims to improve oversight. It would also require the FSSA to study and report on their plan to provide services to individuals who require extraordinary care.
Because the bill was amended in the Senate, it now returns to the House of Representatives for further consideration.
Goode encourages residents of Senate District 38 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Goode can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Goode or by phone at 800-382-9467.
