Tomes to chair Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and The Military

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 6, 2024) – State Sen. Jim Tomes (R-Wadesville) has been reappointed by Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) to serve as chair of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and The Military for the 124th Indiana General Assembly.

Tomes will also serve as a member of the following Senate committees:

• Agriculture;
• Homeland Security and Transportation, ranking member;
• Local Government; and
• Natural Resources.

"As a veteran myself, serving as chair of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and The Military for many sessions now has been a great honor," Tomes said. "I look forward to another year of working to provide the best legislation for our veterans and servicemen and women."

The 2025 legislative session ceremonially began with Organization Day on Nov. 19. The Senate is scheduled to reconvene for session Jan. 8.
