Alting: Bill to increase transparency at IEDC heads to governor's desk

STATEHOUSE (April 17, 2025) — A bill co-authored by State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) that would increase transparency at the Indiana Economic Development Commission unanimously passed the Senate Wednesday.

Senate Enrolled Act 516 would require the IEDC to notify local government officials of its intent to purchase land exceeding 100 acres within a community.

"This bill brings much-needed transparency to the IEDC and is very important for not only Senate District 22, but the state as a whole," Alting said. "I appreciate the added measures this legislation brings as to help hold the IEDC accountable in major land purchases."

SEA 516 would require the notification go to the board of county commissioners of the county, and the mayor of a city of the land is located within a city, within 30 days before the closing date of the purchase of the property.

The bill now heads to the governor's desk for further consideration.

Alting encourages residents of Senate District 22 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Alting can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Alting or by phone at 800-382-9467.
