State Sen. Scott Alexander (R-Muncie) made the following statement today in response to Gov. Mike Braun's 2025 State of the State address:
STATEHOUSE (Jan. 29, 2025) – "I am encouraged to hear Gov. Braun speak on the issue of property taxes, which has been a topic many Hoosiers are concerned about. Though this tax is set at the local level, the Senate Republicans are working to find a way to address it through our top priority bill this session, Senate Bill 1.
"Another topic I am grateful to hear the governor address is problems our health care system is facing. Many Hoosiers are being hit with high medical bills for vital procedures, and it is important we find a way to remedy this.
"I am also working to improve the education system in our community. I have met with many schools in my district, and workforce development and hands-on learning were at the forefront of ways schools are preparing students for their futures. I am glad to hear the governor acknowledge the importance of these opportunities and highlight programs around the state that have had success in this area.
"This session, I look forward to working with the governor and my colleagues to address these and other topics that are most important to Hoosiers."
