STATEHOUSE (Jan. 29, 2025) — "Gov. Braun addressed many priorities that I share in his address tonight, including workforce development and education matters like teacher pay. This session, I am authoring and supporting bills to improve these areas.
"Senate Bill 146, which I authored, would address a number of issues facing educators and school administrators, including increasing the minimum salary for teachers and requiring a school corporation to expend an amount for teacher compensation that is at least 65% of state tuition support. Our teachers work hard to ensure the next generation of Hoosiers are prepared, and they deserve to feel supported in their roles. I was honored that the governor took time out of his address tonight to highlight this bill.
"As chair of the Senate Committee on Pensions and Labor, which reviews a number of bills directly related to workforce development, I always strive to find ways to improve the current workforce and pension standards.
"I look forward to working with both the governor and my fellow legislators on these and other issues this session to improve the lives and livelihoods of Hoosiers across our state."
