Statement from State Sen. Jim Buck

State Sen. Jim Buck (R-Kokomo) made the following statement in response to Gov. Eric Holcomb’s 2023 State of the State address:

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 11, 2023) – "Yesterday, Gov. Holcomb outlined a number of priorities and goals during his address, including securing Indiana's economy, improving public health access and investing in public school systems.

"I support the governor's proposal to make an additional $1 billion contribution to the Pre-1996 Teachers' Retirement Fund, working to free up our state dollars to provide funding toward other ventures.

"It is also important to increase the Indiana State Police's starting pay and properly support the people who make Indiana a safe place to live and raise a family.

"The health and wellbeing of Hoosiers is also a concern, so the plan to design and propose a way for willing counties to leverage their funds in an 80-20 state and local mix is a promising initiative. I look forward to this long session and working with my fellow lawmakers to continue to keep our great state happy and healthy, and push legislation that will assist in doing so."
