State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond) made the following statement today in response to Gov. Mike Braun's 2025 State of the State address:
STATEHOUSE (Jan. 29, 2025) — "I am grateful for Gov. Braun's consistent support for school choice as well as taking efforts to attract great educators to our state.
"I was also glad to hear the governor reference our state's significant improvement in student reading scores. I have overseen several efforts as chair of the Senate Committee on Education and Career Development to improve how we teach reading in the state, and I am glad to see these efforts pay off.
"I also helped author Senate Bill 146 to recruit and retain K-12 educators by increasing their benefits and the proportion of state tuition support that must go toward teacher compensation.
"I look forward to working with Gov. Braun and my colleagues to continue to improve our state's education system to empower parents and help prepare students for the 21st Century.
"It is a great time to be legislator working under the newly-elected Gov. Braun, with a bold agenda to move the state forward."
