Statement from State Sen. Dan Dernulc

State Sen. Dan Dernulc (R-Highland) made the following statement today in response to the shooting and assassination attempt at former President Donald Trump's campaign rally in Butler, PA this past weekend:

STATEHOUSE (July 15, 2024) – "A tragedy took place at former President Donald Trump's campaign rally this past weekend as one innocent life was lost and others were forever changed.

"Those in attendance were simply there to exercise their right to free speech and opinion. It is sickening that these rights were violated and people were put in harm's way because of what they believe in.

"My thoughts and prayers are with everyone recovering from the attack and with the families of those affected. Our country may be changed by this event, but I hope people will continue to stand up for what they believe in and remember it is both our right as Americans to disagree and our responsibility as citizens to ensure we engage in dialogue civically and respectfully."
