STATEHOUSE (Feb. 13, 2025) — State Sen. Brett Clark (R-Avon) welcomed Brownsburg High School's football team to the Statehouse this week to congratulate them on their 2024 state championship win.
Clark presented Senate Concurrent Resolution 20, which recognizes the accomplishments of the Brownsburg Bulldogs and their victory in the 2024 IHSAA'S football state championship.
Last year, BHS worked their way up to the state football championship game, which was held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. There, they fought a hard battle against Westfield High School and won 22-17. This win marked BHS's third football state championship win in almost 40 years.
"Winning a state championship is such a huge accomplishment, and I'm so proud of these students for turning their dreams into reality," Clark said. "I am grateful to have met these students and congratulate them for representing Brownsburg's football program successfully."
In addition to a state championship title, one of the Bulldogs, Iosua Stephens, who serves as the senior quarterback, was awarded the Phil N. Eskew Mental Attitude Award for Class 6A. Under the leadership of the Bulldogs Head Coach John Hart, the team finished their 2024 season with a final record of 13-1.
"I am so proud of the Bulldog team for this success," Clark said. "It is moments like these that make me proud to serve Senate District 24."
Coach Hart also won the NFL Don Shula award. This award granted $15,000 to Brownsburg's football program. Hart was also able to attend the 2025 Superbowl with this award.
"I am proud to hear that the funding for a local school's program means more than football," Clark said. "Participating in a program like this helps shape students and instill lessons that will last a lifetime."
SCR 20 will now move to the House of Representatives for further consideration.
