STATEHOUSE (March X, 2023) – State Sen. Gary Byrne (R-Byrneville) welcomed New Albany resident and Scribner Middle School student Ashton Summers to the Statehouse where she served as a Senate page in February.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.
"In my role as a state senator, I look forward to meeting students from our local community," Byrne said. "The Senate Page Program is a great opportunity for students to gain a firsthand understanding of state government, and I'm glad Ashton was able to take part in such a great learning experience."
Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
