STATEHOUSE (Jan. 6, 2025) — State resources are available to those in need after a major winter storm impacted southwest Indiana, said State Sen. Daryl Schmitt (R-Jasper).
Anyone needing assistance to find warming shelters or other resources is encouraged to contact Indiana 211 by dialing 2-1-1 or 866-211-9966, or by visiting in.211communityos.org.
"Getting state resources to those most impacted by this weather is one of my most important roles as state senator," Schmitt said. "I'd like to thank agencies like the Indiana National Guard, Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) and Indiana Department of Transportation who are working hard to assist the residents of southwest Indiana in getting back to their day-to-day lives."
Schmitt said he will work with the state to make sure resources get to those who need assistance.
With temperatures expected to be bitterly cold in the days ahead, IDHS encourages Hoosiers to be prepared for the extremely cold weather.
