Rogers: Residential Housing Infrastructure Assistance Program awards $51 million to Hoosier communities

STATEHOUSE (July 18, 2024) — Communities across the state are receiving $51 million to help expand the state's housing inventory through the Residential Housing Infrastructure Assistance Program, said State Sen. Linda Rogers (R-Granger).

The program awards communities with funding to offset the costs of infrastructure work needed for new housing developments such as sewer, water, sidewalks and curbs. Funding cannot be used to repay debts, cover routine maintenance and repair projects, upgrade utility poles or cover fees for studies, reports, designs or analyses prepared by consultants or engineers for an eligible project.

"This program offers an excellent opportunity for local leaders to help support residential housing developments in growing communities that need additional housing inventory," Rogers said. "I am pleased to see many communities throughout the state receive this funding and look forward to seeing the impact it has in making Indiana a better place to live, work and play."

The program was created by the General Assembly in 2023 and was sponsored by Rogers as it moved through the Senate.
