STATE HOUSE (Oct. 5, 2017) – State Sen. Jim Merritt (R-Indianapolis) will hold a press conference Tuesday, Oct. 10, to discuss bills he is authoring for the 2018 legislative session to help those in law enforcement work effectively, protect officers and help reduce violent crime. These bills include increasing penalties for drug dealers and violent criminals, eliminating the synthetic drug statute, returning to the three-gram threshold for drug dealing charges, and reintroducing a bill that would protect off-duty law enforcement officers.
