STATEHOUSE (April 1, 2025) — A bill sponsored by State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon) that would give students participating in FFA and 4-H an excused absence from school passed the Senate today by a vote of 45-2 with bipartisan support.
House Enrolled Act 1660 supports students who participate in FFA and 4-H by allowing them to attend events either hosted by or in conjunction with the two organizations and their local clubs.
"FFA and 4-H are important organizations that help prepare our youth to be successful adults," Buchanan said. "As someone who has worked with FFA for many years, I have seen firsthand the great work these youth organizations have done in our communities across the state."
The bill now heads to the governor's desk for further consideration.
Buchanan encourages residents of Senate District 7 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Buchanan can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Buchanan or by phone at 800-382-9467.
