STATEHOUSE (Nov. 19, 2024) — State Sen. Brett Clark (R-Avon) was sworn in as state senator for Senate District 24 by Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta Rush in the Senate Chamber today.
Clark succeeds former State Sen. John B. Crane, who served the Senate since 2016 and did not seek reelection. As state senator for District 24, Clark will be serving portions of Hendricks and Putnam counties.
"I am deeply honored to represent District 24," Clark said. "I am eager to champion issues that matter deeply to me, such as mental health and public safety. I encourage my constituents to reach out to me whenever they need assistance."
Clark is a lifelong resident of Indiana, having grown up in North Salem and graduated from Tri-West High School.
Clark then served in the US Navy. In 1989, Clark started with the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office, serving in a plethora of roles until he ultimately was elected Sheriff from 2015 to 2022.
During his time in office, Clark focused on fiscal responsibility, mental health, addiction, jail overcrowding and public safety issues. Clark served the Indiana Sheriffs' Association, holding several positions including legislative chair and as the President in 2021.
Clark is passionate about serving his community and has served on a variety of boards including the Hendricks County Youth as Resources (YAR) board, the Hendricks Regional Health Foundation board, the Hendricks County Comprehensive plan and traffic plan committees and the Gordon Graham Airport advisory committee.
He is an Elder at the Danville Christian Church and has been a Republican precinct committeeman since 2002.

The 2025 legislative session ceremonially commenced today, Nov. 19 for Organization Day and will reconvene on Jan. 8.
