Thursday, December 19, 2024

The holiday season is a great time of year to check and see if you have any unclaimed property being held by the Indiana Unclaimed Property Division (UPD).

Unclaimed property could include any financial asset with no activity by its owner for an extended period of time. This includes unclaimed wages or commissions, savings and checking accounts, stock dividends, insurance proceeds, underlying shares, customer deposits or overpayments, certificates of deposit, credit balances, refunds, money orders, and safe deposit box contents.

There just might be a chance you have some unclaimed money or property waiting for you, and the holidays are a perfect time to find out. To learn more about unclaimed property or see if you have any, click here.

Unclaimed property is held by the state for 25 years. After 25 years, unclaimed property can no longer be claimed and therefore becomes the property of the state.
