Dernulc: Bill to amend the requirements for PTABOA members passes Senate

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 4, 2025)A bill authored by State Sen. Dan Dernulc (R-Highland) that would amend the requirements for Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals (PTABOA) members passed the Senate unanimously today.

Senate Bill 187 would amend the requirements for PTABOA members to ensure those on the board are residents of Indiana.

"This is an important piece of legislation that directly affects my district," Dernulc said. "Members of an Indiana PTABOA should be Indiana residents to ensure we have equal and fair property tax assessments for those who have chosen to call themselves Hoosiers. I look forward to seeing how this will change how people look at these boards and who serves on them."

SB 187 will now move to the Indiana House of Representatives for further consideration.
