STATEHOUSE (Jan. 30, 2025) — A bill authored by State Sen. Dan Dernulc (R-Highland) that would amend the requirements for Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals (PTABOA) members was amended and passed by the Senate Committee on Local Government unanimously today.
Senate Bill 187 would amend the requirements for the PTABOA members to ensure those on the board are residents of Indiana.
"Thank you to my colleagues for bringing up a clarification that needed to be addressed - I am happy with the bill as amended from committee," Dernulc said. "This bill will ensure the members of a PTABOA are Indiana residents to help ensure we have equal and fair property tax assessments for those who have chosen to call Indiana their primary home."
SB 187 will now move to the Senate floor for further consideration.
