STATEHOUSE (March 6, 2025) — Communities in Senate District 5 will receive more than $11.2 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Ed Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded more than $2 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 5, the following communities received grants:

  • • Brookston received $368,427;
  • • Hebron received $1.5 million;
  • • Jasper County received $1.5 million;
  • • Medaryville received $194,512.50;
  • • Monticello received $1,380,165.45;
  • • Porter County received $1.5 million;
  • • Pulaski County received $994,531.20;
  • • Valparaiso received $1.5 million;
  • • White County received $1.5 million;
  • • Winamac received $547,498.55; and
  • • Wolcott received $257,367.75.

"The Community Crossings Matching Grant Program is a great way for local leaders to provide funding for infrastructure projects in our community," Charbonneau said. "Not only does this funding help make road and bridge repairs, it also helps improve the quality of life for those who live in our district and those who travel through it. I look forward to seeing the improvements made throughout our community."

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1.5 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.
