Buchanan: Communities in Senate District 7 receive more than $5 million in road-funding grants

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 7, 2024) — Communities in Senate District 7 will receive more than $5 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded more than $1.8 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 7, the following communities received grants:

• Advance received $211,781.25;
• Boone County received $1,127,024.44;
• Brownsburg received $462,769.53;
• Clinton County received $344,739.37;
• Crawfordsville received $438,743.90;
• Kirklin received $67,507.05;
• Lebanon received $627,000;
• Mulberry received $18,331.25;
• New Ross received $63,900;
• Rossville received $292,205.61; and
• Whitestown received $1,409,402.

"Maintaining roads and bridges in rural Indiana helps strengthen our state's economy and heightens our quality of life," Buchanan said. "I am glad to see our local leaders applying for funding from the Community Crossing Matching Grant Program and helping keep our local roadways safe for all Hoosiers."

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1.5 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.

The CCMG offers two rounds of applications each year, with the next call for applications occurring in January of 2025.
