STATEHOUSE (April 1, 2025) — A resolution sponsored by State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) that urges the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to rename a portion of a state highway in Carroll County the Deputy Sheriff Noah C. Rainey Memorial Road unanimously passed the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Transportation today.
House Concurrent Resolution 5 would ask INDOT to rename the portion of State Road 75 between County Road 700 South and County Road 800 South in honor of Rainey, who was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 29, 2022.
Rainey was a six-year veteran of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department.
"Noah gave his life to protect the residents of Carroll County, and this recognition will ensure his memory will last for generations to come," Alting said. "I look forward to working with my Senate colleagues and state officials to honor Noah's memory and sacrifice."
The resolution now moves to the full Senate for further consideration.
