Alting: Bill to allow wine deliveries passes committee

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 6, 2025) — A bill authored by State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) that would allow wine dealers to deliver wine to customers unanimously passed the Senate Committee on Public Policy Wednesday.

Senate Bill 107 would level the playing field by allowing wine dealers to deliver wine, something that is already allowed for beer and liquor.

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, many gourmet wine shops offered curbside service to customers," Alting said. "Once pandemic-related emergency orders were rescinded, these shops heard feedback from their customers that they liked the convenience of curbside sales. SB 107 gives wine dealers equal footing to beer and liquor dealers."

SB 107 would open new avenues to be able to sell wine and give gourmet wine shops the ability to grow their businesses.

The bill now moves to the full Senate for further consideration.

Alting encourages residents of Senate District 22 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Alting can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Alting or by phone at 800-382-9467.
