receive nearly $8 million in road-funding grants

STATEHOUSE (March 6, 2025) — Communities in Senate District 17 will receive nearly $8 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Andy Zay (R-Huntington).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded more than $2 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 17, the following communities received grants:

• Gas City received $1,341,236.85;
• Grant County received $943,957.50;
• Huntington County received $1,477,458;
• Jonesboro received $421,305;
• La Fontaine received $176,262.45;
• Marion received $1,404,037.37;
• Sweetser received $664,150.05;
• Wabash received $458,364.77; and
• Wabash County received $1,103,261.43.

"The funding from the CCMG Program greatly assists in the upkeep of the local roads and bridges in our district and around the state," Zay said. "So many Hoosiers and visitors rely on our transportation system in their daily lives, which is why it's so important we continue to make efforts to strengthen that system. It's great to see so many communities in Senate District 17 receive this funding, and I look forward to seeing the improvements that will follow."

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1.5 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.
