STATEHOUSE (Feb. 11, 2025) – Ali Barber is serving as an intern for the Indiana Senate Majority Caucus during the 2025 legislative session, said State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington).
Barber, a resident of Washington, is the daughter of Anne and John Barber. Barber graduated from Washington High School and is a graduate of Indiana University, with degrees in law and public policy. Barber will begin studies at Indiana University's McKinney School of Law in the fall of 2025.
"Our interns are an integral function of the Senate, and I enjoy seeing interns experience how our state government operates firsthand," Bassler said. "I am thrilled to work with young Hoosiers like Ali who are great representations of the communities that I serve."
As a legislative intern, Barber tracks and analyzes bill data, provides constituent services, staffs Senate committee hearings and meetings, and conducts legislative policy research.
"I am very excited to help serve the legislators and constituents of our great Hoosier state," Barber said. "I have always had a motivation to help women and children navigate the legal field, and this opportunity has been a steppingstone to my plan to serve those of Indiana as an exceptional family attorney."
Senate Majority interns work through the duration of the legislative session, which is scheduled to end by April 29.
