Statement from State Sen. Mike Gaskill

State Sen. Mike Gaskill (R-Pendleton) made the following statement today in response to Gov. Mike Braun's 2025 State of the State address:

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 29, 2025) – "Gov. Braun gave an outstanding speech tonight. He hit the bullseye on several points, but especially on local taxes.

"After serving six years in the State Senate and helping pass several tax cuts, it has been disappointing to see those tax cuts dwarfed by increases in local taxes. My Senate Republican colleagues and I who are on the Senate Committee on Tax and Fiscal Policy are working with Gov. Braun to pass substantial property tax reform through Senate Bill 1.

"I have joined some of my colleagues on other bills addressing property taxes this session, and I look forward to continued collaboration with the governor on this effort, as well as working on improving government efficiency and education.

"It was great to see the governor's first State of the State address, and I will be glad to work with him and my colleagues in the future to continue to make Indiana a great place to live, work and raise a family."
