STATEHOUSE (Jan. 29, 2025) – "I agree with Gov. Braun that Indiana has the potential to accomplish great things if the opportunities are seized.
"Time and time again I have stressed that our communities are facing distress, especially in Indianapolis, and I am bringing legislation to be tougher on crime and put bad people in jail.
"Senate Bill 324, which I authored, would increase the penalties on fentanyl and meth dealers. It would also raise the price for targeting the police and add a mandatory minimum for repeat violent offenders.
"Gov. Braun said that we need to increase pay for the Indiana State Police and I agree we need to give them the resources they need to do their job.
"To propel from a plateau, we need to prioritize keeping our communities safe.
"I am proud to work with Gov. Braun's administration and his team as we continue being tougher on crime and keeping public safety and police resources at the forefront."
