STATEHOUSE (July 2, 2024) — State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) was reappointed to the Indiana Public Defender Commission by Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville).
The commission, created by the Indiana General Assembly in 1989, consists of 11 members – including four members from the General Assembly – and meets quarterly to authorize reimbursements to counties and discuss issues related to indigent criminal dgfefense. It administers annual appropriations of $34 million to Indiana counties for public defender services.
The commission is responsible for:
Sen. Koch serves as chair of the Senate Committee on Utilities and is an attorney with the Koch Law Firm P.C. He is also the Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary and the Senate Committee on Commerce and Technology. He also serves on the Senate Committee on Corrections and Criminal Law.
