STATEHOUSE (July 12, 2024) — State Sen. Blake Doriot (R-Goshen) will serve as a member of the Indiana Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs (ICHLA) in preparation for the 2025 legislative session.
The ICHLA is a non-partisan state agency working toward economic, educational and social equity for all Hispanic and Latinx Hoosiers. Doriot is one of four state legislators appointed to the committee, which also includes agency executive staff and appointed members from various locations in Indiana.
“I have previously worked on several pieces of legislation that have or would have helped the Hispanic and Latino community in my district," Doriot said. "I look forward to working with my fellow commission members to further study ways to positively impact the Hispanic and Latino community both in my district and across the state."
Doriot was also assigned to the Interim Study Committees on Agriculture and Natural Resources and on Environmental Affairs, which were not assigned topics to review during the interim.
Legislators will meet over the summer and fall months to discuss topics approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which is comprised of 16 voting members – eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives, in summer study committees.
