Senate Legislative Internship Opportunity

Senate Legislative Internship Opportunity

Tuesday, August 13, 2024

Indiana Senate Republicans are now accepting internship applications for the 2025 legislative session.

This internship gives young professionals a great opportunity to learn about state government and the legislative process, as well as engage in their community and build their professional network.

One internship opportunity is the legislative internship. Legislative interns are paired with a full-time legislative assistant, who serves under either one or two state senators. In this role, interns will track and analyze bills throughout the legislative process, provide constituent services, staff Senate committee hearings and conduct legislative and policy research.

These interns also help senators in the daily functions of their duties during a legislative session.

Candidates must be at least a college sophomore, recent college graduate, graduate student or law school student. Students and recent graduates with or seeking any degree can apply.

Those selected earn a $900 biweekly stipend and can gain scholarship and academic credit opportunities, professional development and networking.

Senate internships are full-time positions at the Statehouse in Indianapolis that typically start with a mandatory orientation in late December or early January and conclude at the end of the 2025 legislative session in April.

The deadline to apply for the internship program is Oct. 31.
