Sen. Buchanan chairs first commerce committee hearing of 2025

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 23, 2025) — State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon) served as chair for the first meeting of the Senate Committee on Commerce and Technology today.

The committee heard two bills, one that would address local government influence on foreign media and one that would address cybersecurity regulations.

Senate Bill 318 would require certain state media entities to disclose foreign ownership, funding and the use of foreign sourced or influenced content.

Senate Bill 472 would hold certain public entities responsible for setting clear cybersecurity guidelines for use by political and state educational authorities.

"It's an honor to serve as chair of this committee, and I hope these measures help produce a more secure future for Hoosiers as our economy and technology change in the years to come," Buchanan said.
