Raatz Roundup: Fighting for pro-family policy

Fighting for pro-family policy in the Statehouse

By State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond)

Recently, the Indiana Family Institute released their annual legislative scorecard for legislators in the General Assembly. I am proud to have been given a 100% rating based on my support for several pro-family bills this year.

These pro-family bills aimed to protect minors from harmful online material, protect free speech on public college campuses and support parental rights.

Senate Enrolled Act 17, which I co-authored, requires adult website operators to verify the age of their users with one of several reasonable age verification methods to prevent minors from accessing harmful material.

Senate Enrolled Act 202, which I authored, protects free speech on public college campuses and incentivizes college professors to promote intellectual diversity and a culture of free expression in their classrooms.

House Enrolled Act 1137, which I sponsored, requires school principals to allow students to attend two hours at most of off-campus religious instruction per week during school hours with parental permission.

Senate Bill 128, which I authored, and which ultimately did not pass this session, would have increased transparency around K-12 sexual education and given school boards the opportunity to review the curriculum.

I am proud to have supported Hoosier families during my time in the legislature, and I will continue to advocate for them this coming session.
