Lawrence Central High School graduate gains experience at Indiana Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 18, 2025) – Kyle Mattern is serving as an intern for the Indiana Senate Majority Caucus during the 2025 legislative session, said State Sen. Kyle Walker (R-Lawrence).

Mattern, a resident of Indianapolis, is the son of Margo and Todd Mattern. Mattern graduated from Lawrence Central High School and is a senior at the University of Saint Francis majoring in interdisciplinary studies.

"I have known Kyle for quite some time," Walker said. "I am excited to see his drive and talent continue to grow while interning at the Indiana Senate."

As a legislative intern, Mattern tracks and analyzes bill data, provides constituent services, staffs Senate committee hearings and meetings and conducts legislative policy research.

"I am thankful for the opportunity to help Senator Garten this session. It has been a pleasure to work closely with him and learn so much about our state government while gaining valuable experience." Mattern said.

Senate Majority interns work through the duration of the legislative session, which is scheduled to end by April 29.
