Huntington North High School graduate gains experience
at Indiana Statehouse
STATEHOUSE (Feb. 11, 2025) – Carson Kitchen is serving as an intern for the Indiana Senate Majority Caucus during the 2025 legislative session, said State Sen. Andy Zay (R-Huntington).
Kitchen, a resident of Huntington, is the son of Peter and Elizabeth Kitchen. Kitchen graduated from Huntington North High School and is a senior at Huntington University studying entrepreneurial small business management.
"During the busy legislative session, interns help the Senate run smoothly," Zay said. "Not only is it helpful to us as senators, but it is a great opportunity for interns to gain professional experience."
As a legislative intern, Kitchen tracks and analyzes bill data, provides constituent services, staffs Senate committee hearings and meetings, and conducts legislative policy research.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the legislative process in Indiana and create a better future for Hoosiers," Kitchen said. "It has been a great experience working for Sen. Zay and seeing his dedication to not only our local community but also the state."
Senate Majority interns work through the duration of the legislative session, which is scheduled to end by April 29.
