Carrasco: General Assembly kicks off 2025 session

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 19, 2024) — State Sen. Cyndi Carrasco (R-Indianapolis) gathered with fellow legislators today at the Statehouse for Organization Day – the ceremonial start of the 124th Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day includes the swearing in of new and returning members of the General Assembly, including Carrasco, who take the formal oath of office to begin a new term. This day also marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers and gives each Senate and House of Representatives caucus the opportunity to organize in preparation for the 2025 legislative session. By state law, the 2025 session will conclude on or before April 29.

During the first session of each General Assembly, lawmakers craft a comprehensive budget to fund government services for the next two fiscal years.

"Being able to represent Senate District 36 last year after the tragic loss of State Sen. Jack Sandlin was a humbling experience," Carrasco said. "I am honored to have been elected, and it is my privilege to continue to serve and advocate on behalf of our community."

As the 2025 session gets underway, Carrasco encourages residents of Senate District 36 to contact her with any questions or comments they may have. Carrasco can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Carrasco or by phone at 800-382-9467.
