STATEHOUSE (Nov. 19, 2024) — State Sen. Dan Dernulc (R-Highland) gathered with fellow legislators today at the Statehouse for Organization Day – the ceremonial start of the 124th Indiana General Assembly.
Organization Day includes the swearing in of new and returning members of the General Assembly. This day also marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers and gives each Senate and House of Representatives caucus the opportunity to organize in preparation for the 2025 legislative session. By state law, the 2025 session will conclude on or before April 29.
During the first session of each General Assembly, lawmakers craft a comprehensive budget to fund government services for the next two fiscal years.
"With two years under my belt, I am looking forward to hitting the ground running and working on important issues affecting Hoosiers throughout the state," Dernulc said. "My focus this year will be on keeping Hoosiers’ taxes low, improving public safety and supporting education policies that ensure parents remain in the driver's seat with regard to their child's education. It will be a busy budget year, but I am ready to put my best foot forward and work hard for the constituents of Senate District 1."
As the 2025 session gets underway, Dernulc encourages residents of Senate District 1 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Dernulc can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Dernulc or by phone at 800-382-9467.
