STATEHOUSE (Feb. 17, 2025) — A bill authored by State Sen. Dan Dernulc (R-Highland) that would provide more transparency in the election process passed the Senate unanimously today.
Senate Bill 186 would compel a circuit court clerk to transmit a copy of each oath taken by a ballot counter to the state election division within 30 days of the election.
"This idea came to me from a group of voters who would like to see a little more transparency for this part of the voting process," Dernulc said. "I believe this would be a good starting point in increasing this transparency, and I thank Brad King, the co-director of the bipartisan Indiana Election Division, and the Secretary of State for working with me to create this important step to increase transparency in the election process."
SB 186 will now move to the Indiana House of Representatives for further consideration.
