Bray: General Assembly kicks off 2025 session

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 21, 2024) — Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) gathered with fellow legislators at the Statehouse Tuesday for Organization Day – the ceremonial start of the 124th Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day includes the swearing in of new and returning members of the General Assembly, including Bray, who take the formal oath of office to begin a new term. This day also marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers and gives each Senate and House of Representatives caucus the opportunity to organize in preparation for the 2025 legislative session. By state law, the 2025 session will conclude on or before April 29.

Bray was also formally selected to serve as the Senate's President Pro Tem, a position he has held since 2018.

During the first session of each General Assembly, lawmakers craft a comprehensive budget to fund government services for the next two fiscal years.

"While crafting a balanced budget will be a top priority during the upcoming session, there will be a number of important issues to address in 2025," Bray said. "Tax reform, education funding and Medicaid are all sure to be discussed this session. I am ready to work with my colleagues in the General Assembly on these and other issues in January."

As the 2025 session gets underway, Bray encourages residents of Senate District 37 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Bray can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Bray or by phone at 800-382-9467.
